• Joint meeting of Egyptian Hypertension Society & Solvay Regional Event in Cardio-metabolic Area
  Cairo 18 - 22 April, 2007

Solvay Regional Event in Cardio-metabolic Area was held in Cairo during the occasion of the annual meeting of the Egyptian Society of Hypertension which took place between 18th and 22nd of April, 2007.

In collaboration with the organizers of the congress and our colleagues in Solvay –Egypt, we succeeded to integrate two satellite symposia in the scientific agenda of the meeting.

Solvay – Egypt had a conspicuous exhibition booth and conducted also some parallel promotional activities to our satellite symposia on Teveten & Teveten Plus. In addition, we held on the 21st of April two standalone lectures on Lipanthyl and Omacor at Grand Hyatt hotel.

We had an excellent panel of eminent local speakers from different Middle East countries: Dr. Zaher Al Kassih from Jordan, Drs. Samir Arnaout, Samir Mallat, Sami Azar and Selim Jambart from Lebanon, Dr. Mustafa El Chamiri from Saudi Arabia and Drs. Michael Khoury and Omar Al Hallak from Gulf.

Different topics were addressed namely: the role of RAAS & Sympathetic Overactivity in the development of Hypertension, Beyond Blood Pressure Control, Sympathetic Overactivity and Blood pressure management, Secondary prevension of MI, Benefits of Omega 3 ethyl esters in secondary prevention of MI, Dyslipidemia profile of the diabetic patient, and what did we learn from FIELD.

Solvay Gulf & Solvay Saudi Arabia sponsored some doctors in order to attend our event. In addition to those doctors coming from outside Egypt, we had a remarkable number of the Egyptian doctors, who attended our two satellite symposia. We arranged for our participants a city tour to the sites of attractions in Cairo like Pyramids, Egyptian Museum, Citadel..etc.

The feedback after the congress showed how much doctors enjoyed the scientific and the social parts of the event.
